CECA-Organized China Team Publishes First Int'l Standard on Piezoelectric Frequency Components

On March 7, 2025, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) officially released IEC 62276:2025 《Single crystal wafers for surface acoustic wave (SAW) device applications – Specifications and measuring methods.》

The China Electronic Components Association, serving as the domestic technical liaison unit for IEC/TC49 (Technical Committee on Frequency Control,Piezoelectrics for Selection and Detection,Dielectric and Electrostatic Devices and Related Materials),has fully leveraged its role as a bridge. It has actively maintained close communication with the IEC/TC49 Secretariat and efficiently organized domestic enterprises to participate in the standard revision process.This revision project is led by TianTong Holdings Co., Ltd. The domestic project team consists of leading enterprises, organizations, and research institutes in the industry, including: the 26th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Fujian Jing'an Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., China Electronic Components Industry Association,CETC Deqing Huaying Electronics Co., Ltd., Beijing ShiJing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., and Chengdu Tamke Crystal Technology Co., Ltd. During the revision process, the project team conducted discussions and verification tests on the technical requirements and corresponding measurement methods for single-crystal wafers used in surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices, particularly focusing on their transmittance (wafer darkening level). Multiple technical modifications were proposed to meet the requirements for single-crystal wafers used in SAW devices in the current smart terminal era, earning high recognition from international peers.

This standard is the first international standard for piezoelectric frequency components revised under China's leadership. It also constitutes a key initiative by China to develop an enterprise-centered, market-focused innovation ecosystem combining industrial, academic, and research forces in the SAW device sector.This milestone achievement - China's first leadership of an international standard project in this field - is crucial for gaining standard-setting influence and boosting the industry's global competitiveness.
